A THIRD of 10 and 11-year-olds in the Hastings Borough are overweight or obese and the figures contine to rise according to the government.
Almost a fifth (18 per cent) of four to five year olds in Hastings area and nearly one in three (29 per cent) of 10 to 11 year olds are overweight or obese. Less than half (47 per cent) take part in three hours or more of exercise each week.
If current trends continue a quarter of children across east Sussex will be obese by the year 2050. The damning figures were revealed by the government?s Child Heath Profiles which provide a snapshot of child health and wellbeing for each local authority in England.
