talking about insulin injections. Hubby and sun maintain tha anyone who needs to inject insulin and has to carry supplied for the day needs a letter from their doctor to say they need to carry injections.

I say it is obvious it is for medical reasons as the needles and pens are different tfrom anything used by some one taking recreational or ilegal drugs.

I am also basing this on the fact some folks with allergies also have to carry injections withthem 'just in case'

The only thing I thought you had to do was tell someone searching bags (we have exit searches at work for security reasons) that you have something sharp in your bag although you'd need to have the pointy bit exposed for it to do any damage.

Hubby and son are wrong :D
Only time a letter is needed is going through airports.
Obviously if going into clubs etc it's polite to say you have sharps on you if being searched.

I've never carried a letter in 41 years of diabetes - not even for airports. I've never been told that I need to and have flown quite a few times, including trips to the Middle East. Although I agree that it would be sensible to have a letter for airports nowadays.

I carry a letter for airports but never been asked to show it, don't even mention medication anymore, and it's never been questioned.

I have a letter from one of my original dsn team, 10/11 years ago, and have never had to show it anywhere when travelling. Always tell check-in staff and those at passport control, and always had the 'shrug of shoulders' reaction.

46years & have never been asked. If you cant talk your way out of that your in trouble 😉

Ditto! 🙂 🙂 🙂

Thanks everyone I will show my two this and see whatthey have to say.

I was talking to hubby about not needing a letter to carry injections and he said if you have injections with you without a letter The Science Museum and The National Gallery will confiscate them. Think I am going to do a little research, never heard of it happening any place else
