Hi all. My BG is running slightly higher than normal at the mo despite trying hard to keep it under control. A quick question - is there are a reaon why drs advise eating some carbs with each meal? If you eat no/low carbs for most of the day, then eat a small portion of carbs in the evening, followed by a sharp rise despite the low quantity, is this because your body hasn't had many carbs beforehand? Am I making sense? I have been waking to mid 6s, eating yogurt and berries which bring my BG down, followed by meat and salad for lunch then a dinner such as tonight's which was meat free meatballs, fajita sauce with added veggies and a very small (palm full) portion of wholewheat pasta. Result BG 7.6 after 2 hours! Any thoughts? Katie

Hi Katie, I'd say that a 7.6 2 hours post-meal is a very good number and not something you need to worry about 🙂 I don't see any reason why you should eat carbs with every meal, as we know, there is no single approach to diet that will work for everyone, so that is a very generalised statement. I think it is important to maintain a balance, eat sensibly and healthily according to your tastes and inclinations - as long as what you eat can be tolerated by your body to keep your blood sugar at good levels.
