A plateau....bit deflated....

So I've stopped taking readings every day, eg: BG, weight, waist, etc, as it can be a bit too distracting and OCD I think. So mainly doing them about twice a week.
So I took some measurements today and only lost just over 2lbs this week, so a bit disappointed.
But, I suppose its to be expected, I have been told several times there will be good weeks, bad weeks and weeks where not much changes and the readings will be flat, (a "plateau" as it were) and even 2lb a week over several weeks is a good average.
I was just getting used to shedding the pounds really quickly. I know the first week is a lot of water, so I did expect to slow up a bit at some point.
Its just a tiny bit disheartening when you have made the concerted effort to stay on the diet, do more exercise, etc.
Oh well, theres always next week, hopefully more progress then, and must tell myself to stick with it and try harder.... :thankyou:🙄

Hey @pjgtech now is not the time to get disheartened, because you have done incredible well, to plateau now and again is quite normal, I've even put weight on one week and then the next week "bang" off it comes again and some.

My target weight loss per week was 2lb, but am currently running at 1.79lbs which is nowhere near as good as you.

Just keep going and just think what you've achieved so far and keep smiling, yep, even smiling burns calories :D

Alan😉

Keep going and your weight will come down gradually. A disadvantage of going too fast is metabolism slows down and can take a long time to recover (months/years). A bit of intermittent fasting may help you through a plateau, e.g. skip a meal one or two days a week on a 5:2 basis.

Don't let one reading put you off your stride. You have done so well on the pathway to remission so far. Just keep on doing what you're doing and you will achieve your goals.

It took me 5 months to get my numbers back into normal range and there were many ups and downs along the way, especially at the beginning, but I stuck at it and never lost sight of my goal. Keep going - it'll come.

You are doing fantastically well, so try not to let the fact that things are slowing down a bit, derail you as that is totally normal. Keep looking at what you have achieved over the last few weeks to remind yourself how successful you have been to date.

It is probably a good idea not to weigh or measure so frequently, so maybe try to focus on another element of the journey rather than the measuring. Perhaps taking up a new form of exercise or hobby or project and putting your enthusiasm into that instead, will help take the pressure off your need to see continued significant improvement with those other parameters.

Don't get too disheartened. Any good dietitian will tell you, losing 1lb a week is a sustainable and sensible weight loss.

I'm tremendously impatient and get very annoyed when I know I 'should' have lost weight but haven't. I have to dig deep into the depths of my willpower to not think 'sod it' and start eating crap again!!

Keep going - it will be worth it.

Thanx peeps. I'm definitely not giving up, as I said a bit disappointed, but I will keep going.
Tis just a mere bump in the road...... 🙂 :thankyou:

yup, def just a bump in the road.

I was only aiming for approx 1lb a week, with a view that any extra was a bonus.
I've had 7 days plateau here, and a rare 14 days plateau there. They are not important, what matters is the downward trend.

Keep going @pjgtech

You are dong brilliantly well.
