I don't think my doctor is too keen on patients who are well informed or who ask him too many questions if the answers are not in his out of date text books...

I used to be a church mouse with my GP but since switching to a fellow female i now ask more and dont just sit and take evrything she gives me,if that makes me awkward then so be it, its my health at the end of the day.

I really wish I had good enough French to have a real conversation with my doctor. I always gets stuck somewhere because it's rather different language to that used when buying a piece of beef or discussing the weather. I have had her looking up something in a textbook or on the internet more than once .
I'm a bit odd, most of the patients do as they are told ie eat the right amounts of carbs with the prescribed amounts of insulin; but I'm an anglaise and so I'm allowed to be a bit eccentric😉

Another nightmare patient here

I'm sure pre-pump days my consultant heart sank when he saw my name on his list heheh....

It took over 25 weeks to get a consultation, due to being mucked about as sent to see the wrong person, and no medical records etc etc...

So the first time I met him I was blunt and to the point, I felt like my name had been flagged with 'keep this women out of clinic she wants a pump' and warned him don't give me any bull**** as I wouldn't be taking any!

Then proved my point when NICE guidelines came up, he went to bring them up on his computer, I said don't bother as this is what they say, and the PCT can't pick or choose what elements they will use to determine whether they will fund or not🙂

Give my consultant his dues though, he has always worked with me never against me, mind you now I've got my insulin pump he actually enjoys seeing me and wow's over my control. I'm a bit of a star pupil when it comes to pumps..

As he said to me once, I am the expert in my diabetes, he's there to keep an eye on things, help and explain different things to me that are either new or I don't quite understand etc...
