The GP needs to have a good read of NICE too!

Yes, it's all fine starting on Diet and Exercise and moving on to Metformin (I guess it's 750mg of SR you have now been put on) but NICE also says that if the levels are high that you should bypass Metformin and go straight to a Sulfonylurea.

(there are a few exceptions in the rules, but that's the gist)

Incidentally, Metformin itself is reckoned to only be worth a 1-2% drop in HbA1c by itself (that's also buried in the NICE material somewhere).

Good luck with getting your levels back to more sensible values.

Yes I agree with all of your comments, I am going to ring dn on Monday, woke up yesterday bloods were 16.1 then just before going to bed last night had the shock of my life bloods at 30.2.....never ever been that high, this morning on wake up was 17.5 going to keep checking through the day but this really is not going in the right direction :(
