Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
I was chatting to a friend neighbour and she asked "Oh, how are you getting on with your Diabetes?". I explained I made progress, cut the carbs down and so on. I said my GP thinks I might be a bit over-medicated and is monitoring for three months. I said I'd had some unexpected hypos. "Oh, I see. Sorry to hear that. Do you have to blow into a paper bag?". She looked a little confused when I explained that I usually have a piece of toast and wait for 15 minutes...

Bless, you can’t blame people for not understanding can you, but they do say some funny things sometimes. A friend saw me once walking along the street carrying a sealed sharps container, which I was on my way to drop off at the GPs for disposal. She said I looked like a junkie! And yes she did know all about my daughter's diabetes. Gee, thanks...
