Hi,

I just wanted to introduce myself and say thank you.

After a routine health check about 5 weeks ago my partner was told he's type 2. I don't think he'd like me sharing all the in's and out's of what's going on as he's a fairly private person, but he's making really great progress and a lot of that is down to this forum.

I've read countless threads and been able to take what I've learned from you all to help make his journey better and hopefully a bit easier.

I joke that my new role is dietician, physical training and chief researcher! So far I think I'm doing ok, but that's mainly thanks to you all.

I'm looking forward to learning more and hoping to help my other half as much as I can over the coming years.

Thank you.

Welcome @Kitty W 🙂 That’s great that you’ve found the forum so useful. If anything’s niggling at you or you have any questions on behalf of your partner, do ask. Nothing is ‘silly’ or too trivial.

Welcome from me also, I lurked for months before joining and found the information so valuable and overwhelmed at how much patience people had at giving such encouraging and supportive replies.
You have to become your own expert but the more you read around the forum the more you realise that everybody is different and you have to find the best way for you.
It is easy to get hooked on reading things, just burned the onions, oh dear.

Ah! That‘s so lovely to hear @Kitty W 🙂

Glad you have been able to take some of the tidbits of information on the forum and apply them to your husband’s situation. I am sure he is very glad of your help and support!

And well done for de-lurking. Now you can ask questions directly as and when they arise.

Hopefully he will see positive results from both of your efforts when he next gets a follow-up check 🙂

@Inka Thank you very much I'm sure I'll have plenty of queries and questions as we go along our journey.
@Leadinglights yes you do have to become your own expert. My OH got great advice from the nurse, but actually there is only so much she can say in a limited timed appointment. There's so much more to it other than just eating well and keeping active. I've got really good at checking packets in the supermarket and finding out that even healthy food can have a lot of carbs in. Haha, I hope the onions we're salvageable!
@everydayupsanddowns many thanks for your reply. I'm sure his next HbA1C will show a big improvement . It's good for me to be able to help out and feel useful for him. We're in this together so it's great for me to be able to have a positive input.
