Which has a higher sugar content apples or pears....

I had a pear this afternoon and did a random test about an hour later and my sugar was 9.4 (v high for me....); I went on my cross-trainer for 20mins and brought it down to 5.4 - but would the apple I had this morning have increased my sugar to prior having the pear about 3 hrs later???

Confused?? so am I...

I don't mind not eating chocolate; biscuits; cake etc... but really miss the some fruits...:(
 
I prepare some chopped apples, pears, bit of melon(cant remember he melon not to have) and what else I can find, and have it after a meal with some yoghurt (natural low fat) and so far it seems that that way is ok.

I thought the sugar in fruit, was not so bad, ????
 
Fruit sugar is more natural than refined sugar but still there. I think it is a case of experimenting and seeing which ones you can and can't eat. We are all individuals so it will be different for all of us.
 
I tend to attack pears 🙂

I've mostly been eating low GI fruits and have found that generally they are ok for me. Although I always combine them with a main meal - not on there own as a snack.

Melon isn't too bad really, it might have fast sugars but they are mostly water really (the GL is low).
 
I seem to remember reading somewhere, that the "bad" variety of melon (I've forgotten which that is) is classified as high GI -- but it's also low GL, because no sane person would eat anywhere near 100g of it at one sitting. 🙂

Be interesting if somebody could confirm this. If true, it shows that GI can sometimes be misleading, which is why GL was brought in...
 
Ripeness must play a part - an unripe pear is not nice, while a ripe one will be higher in sugars than unripe pear!

I think thta Robert is thinking of watermelon - it's not difficult to eat 100g of watermelon, but difficult to eat 100g of CHO in the form of watermelon, as it's so high in water.
