A Dietician Calls

This week while in Rehab i had three suprise visitors. I think they had not even told the ward they were coming.

One was a dietician. I had seen a dietician in hospital after loosing a lot of weight (17 kg) during the initial period. The one in the hospital basically just recommended I take Ensure. I never had that many as it was bad enough managing my diabetes without shots of a rather sugary drink. There is a lower sugar version but the hospital said they did not have any or any intention of using it!

The dietician said she had come as the hospital were concerned over my large weight loss and the serious wounds on my foot. I had already had their booklet on recovery and healing, and she irritated most of this (plenty of lean protein, and fruit and veg). She then asked about my appetite and I said it had gone from virtually zero for the first few months to still feeling hungry after meals. I then said the food served was not meeting their guide lines. When she said "It is what it is' I thought why are we bothering?

I personally think better hospital foof would speed recovery maybe paying for itself?
