A brief look at my bgl's from the last few days

Four hours and 5 minutes
Breakfast was 10:05am
Lunch was 14:10pm

So as you say the dose should have been *mostly* over and done with, but some people find it can linger for 5 or even 6 hours. And Humalog is an insulin that can have a bit of a ‘sting in the tail’. So perhaps there was more breakfast dose left than you expected, and the extra .5u was enough to dip you into a hypo?

Yes exactly.

Do you think my 1:8 breakfast carb ratio is ok for now?

Ps are there any insulins which finish *exactly* on the 4 hour mark - lol

What readings are you getting at lunchtime since you changed it? If they are in the first post in this thread, and if your 3rd check of the day is your pre-lunch reading, they look a little above your target?

You've got the 3rd check of the day being the pre-lunch readings but no those aren't the readings because I changed it on 21/7.

I'll post some lunchtime readings

Since we were already discussing this on your earlier thread, I’ve merged your ‘struggles with the bolus calculator’ with your earlier thread Gill, to save you having to check on both places.

1/8 - 9.5
31/7 - 9.8
307 - 8.4
29/7 - 6.0
28/7 - 13.5
27/7 - 12.5
26/7 - 5.4
25/7 - 8.1
24/7 - 6.3
23/7 - 7.5

Looks like about half and half in great range, and a smidge above.

If your main aim is reducing hypos at the moment, I reckon that’s not bad at all.

I've gone with my bolus advisor but I will have to watch my bgls like a hawk tonight because I've had to do another correction - lunchtime bolus was 14:20pm and teatime 18:36pm - I'm off out tonight which will probably end up with maybe 2 gin and tonics - how can I enjoy myself now?
Also why is it 10.6 and it was 10.8 at lunchtime?

Thanks for merging the two threads. I'm never sure when to start a new / different thread

No worries!

It was just that the same topic for you was being discussed in 2 places, and it felt easier for everyone to keep track 🙂

Bolus calculator for pre breakfast this morning

Blood sugar 6.0mmol
Carbs 36.0g
Active insulin 0.0 units
Insulin (correction) -0.5 units
Insulin (food) 4.5 units
Bolus advice (total) 4.0 units

So 4 units for breakfast on a 1:8 ratio - any comments welcomed please

Before the 6.0mmol I was hypo 3.5mmol then 3.8mmol

I've followed my bolus calculator again at lunchtime - there were no corrections advised but if there was then with blood glucose being under 10mmol I would've knocked off the correction and just followed the advice for insulin (food)

As you can see here it's only 3h and 30 minutes that I did my breakfast bolus so I will probably accumulate some insulin and probably be hypo at teatime but this is something I can't avoid unless another member has any tips 🙂

Teatime tonight is around 7pm - 7:30pm ish and guess what yes we're eating out. Hubby has been sat in uncle sitting during the evenings so is a bit fed up.

So tonight we ate out and my before meal test was 5.2 as you can see in the pic and I did the test at 19:28pm and no hypo which I'm glad about.

At 19:54pm this was my before meal BGL re-entetred after eating so I could get my bolus advice which I followed so no correction to knock off because the bolus calculator knocked it off me which I don't really understand - 57g of carbs for my meal and 5u insulin (food)

But.......then on the way home hubby stopped for some petrol and brought himself, my daughter and me one of my favourites......a chocolate freddo......they're 10g of carbs but oh dear I ate it without taking any insulin!
