No one knows exactly why, but diabetics are prone to depression and anxiety. I have been treated for that a couple of times in the past, but I'm off medication now, and trying to keep it that way, so I have a few ideas -

I've been a member of the Backpackers Club for years. It's very good, but as a national club there's no-one I can just pop round to and visit

Similarly I am in the local Ramblers group, but haven't been out with them for most of this year as I have developed Adult Onset Asthma. It took months to diagnose and treat, but now it's controlled I must pick that up again

When I was in my 20s I was a member of CAMRA, so I'll join them again

Most of the pubs in this area have closed, so I joined a Working Mens Club, and have already started chatting to a few people

I've been looking at U3A but there are no meetings till the New Year

Over the past couple of months I have been helping to start a Mens Shed, and that is progressing steadily, if slowly

These should give me some reasonable interests and contacts. Most of them are for the New Year, but I've got to have some plans

Good to hear you have some plans in place ZD, and hopefully lots to look forward to in the New Year 🙂 It can certainly be a tricky time of year because things are so orientated towards one thing for weeks on end, which may not lend themselves to socialising outside family and established friendships. Even if you're generally OK with that, it can feel a bit isolating at times.

If I do start feeling fed up and lonely I'll invite my mates round - Jack Daniels, Johnny Walker, and Jim Beam

CAMRA is a good club to join, Im a member. Its good that you have some plans in place ZD. Just don't invite your friends round too often! :D
