I self test about 3 to 4 times a week, or if I am eating something different. This morning for my breakfast I had a fruit smoothie [home made] coffee and Oatibix flakes, so I thought go shopping, come back and test after 2 hours, my reading was 3.9 😱 for me that is low, my lowest self test result.

After downing a glucotab and having some carbs and saying to myself 'don't panic' I thought the only course of action was to have lunch at my favourite Italian restaurant, spaghetti and chicken milanese, made me feel a lot better I can tell you, anyhow I tested two hours later 7.4 so all is well on planet macabee😎

Have a good day

I am glad you did not panic and done all the right things and feel better now 🙂

Glad you didn't panic 🙂 Although 3.9 is technically a hypo, it's above the lower end of the range that a non-diabetic might have (3.3), but always a shock if you have never encountered such a number before! It must have been the shopping that brought it down - seems to have that effect for a lot of people 🙂

Sounds like you did all the right things 🙂

Obviously it's different for type 1, but I'd be delighted if my son's daily BG's were always 3.9-7.4!!!!

Now that my pancreas has forgiven me, I do get the occasional sub-4 (mostly on waking). I've never treated, other than eating breakfast or my next meal. Is this wrong?

No, I would say that's fine if it's only just under, although if below 3.5 I would probably pop a jelly baby in on waking )
