I decided to do a 1 hour test after having these this morning. I previously posted good 2 hour results from these (in the 5's). Well, I was 5.4 before eating, and 10.0 1 hour after!😱 Dropped back to 5.5 after 2 hours. Maybe I should just try one next time.😳

I have tracked these down in our local Asda but haven't been getting through my cereals lately so it will be a while before I get to try them.

I like that. A queue of cereals.:D

Maybe I'm not understanding the thread, or how many carbs you had eaten, but what is bad about your reading being 5.4 before and 2 hours after being 5.5? That is not just very normal, but amazing and proves your insulin is working very well to get it to fasting levels within that time.

For non-diabetics the body should have gotten it to 7.8 or lower at 2 hours, you were 5.5, close to fasting levels. My wife is normally 7.4-6.9 at 2 hours, but pasted a OGTT, and eats healthy food, not high carb. They say fasting is reached at 3-4 hours from eating. Maybe switching to Low GI version may help the first hour spike.

The 2 hour reading is fine. Testing at 1 hour would normally show a higher reading, but not dramatically. A rise of 5 mmols at 1 hour is quite excessive, then a massive drop by 5 mmols after 2 hours is also quite big. I see that as a quick spike. A non diabetic wouldn't usually spike that high even after 1 hour. I once ate a massive Chelsea bun and only peaked at 9mmols after an hour. OK, admittedly I stayed rather high for another 2 hours after, but it was naughty so I didn't mind.:D

I've not checked at 1 hour for a long time(I've sometimes checked at 1h:30m, as I sometimes forget when I eat), as 2 hours are always 4s or 5s these days, and last time I checked at 1:30 it was 5s, at 1 hours 6s if I remember correctly, but I'm not as bothered these days as long at it's below 6s at 2 hours. I do spot checking these days to ensure all is fine, I used to go mad with stabbing my little fingers to death, until I later understood stress made it worse 🙂

What helped me was to add exercise(still do sometimes) after 1 hour to ensure levels are always low or within normal range.

I only do 1 hour tests when trying something new. I once did a test alongside my wife, who is not diabetic, & was surprised how high her BG was 1 hour after eating. In fact we were both in the 8's. Maybe a big rise after 1 hour isn't an issue when it drops back to normal after 2 hours.
