ISABELLA Ward, 13, was only on day one of her six-day trek for charity along the Great Ocean Road when she sprained her ankle.
But the Year 8 West Moreton Anglican College student was determined to complete her 97km route to raise funds for diabetes research.
Now the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation is $5531 richer for her efforts.
"It was very challenging both mentally and physically and there were times when I wanted to give up," said Isabella, who was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in 2010.
