Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Went into hospital for different tests and got the type 2 diagnosis.
First time they showed me the pens,insulin etc and explained the do's and don'ts and dietary plans.
Problem being I'm also on a high carb food plan for an upcoming procedure!
So it's fun n games but makes life interesting.
 
Hi Chris A, welcome to the forum.

What a pain to be on a high carb diet when diagnosed with diabetes! Were you advised of you HbA1c number? It's your average blood sugar level for the past three months and is usually given upon diagnosis. It will help gauge where you are in your diabetic journey and how far you need to go.

I'd have a word with your GP / health care team and get some advice on the best way forward to meet the needs on both conditions.

Just wondering how soon your procedure is and whether you can change your diet plan immediately after or would you need to continue with it?
 
You should check out if your high carb plan is going to conflict as sometimes surgical procedures are put on hold if blood glucose levels are too high.
Are you saying you have been started on insulin at diagnosis?
