MORE than 800 patients waited longer than eight hours in accident and emergency units in Gwent in February.
The number of such longer waits has increased since November with the February figure, equating to around one in every 13 patients attending A&E, the worst to date.
Health bosses believe the figures reflect concerns about mounting pressure on capacity for dealing with more serious emergency cases at Gwent's two A&E units, at the Royal Gwent and Nevill Hall Hospitals.
