🙂Maybe us lot from round here depend on biscuits too much lol. I find it difficult though when i do the insulin and my blood sugar is spot on and then i want something more exciting than carrot sticks to nibble on but i cant unless i have another injection. Surely 4 a day is enough!!

This is where pumps are great and you can 'bolus for a biscuit'! I've only ever done 4 injections a day - it's always seemed a huge indulgence to take an extra injection just so you can have a biscuit, plus it means the injection sites are getting more use, which I also worry about.

Well why have more injections than you need. Im also exploring my correction ratio as if my bs was high before a meal i just used to guess how much more insulin i would need. I think my dsn worked it at about 1 unit to drop it by 2mmol or woteva measurement it is in. There is just so much for my little brain to take into account but i am trying. I think if i had a pump and could bolus for a biscuit i would just get very fat:D

hi emma i do hope you start to feel better soon , like already been said you have had great numbers in thr past on your hbA1c

good luck x

Yeah i do i want in perfect and well it probably never will be! If i work how much insulin i need for wot im going to eat and if it comes out at about 3.2 units i will tend to take 4 instead. My dsn have given me a half unit pen so i can get closer to the correct amount that i need. Ive just been getting on with it all for the last 12 months and been thinking ive been doing really well, just yesterday after seeing the DSN and been told i wont be able to drive with so many hypos has made me think about it all. All i want is the best and it doesnt seem to be happening🙂

oo can you get a half unit pen???? interesting... lol 😎

Yup u can. Its a novopen demi. And its blue and orange so i like very much as im a little obssessed with orange:D

Here's a page that explains the rules - it's aimed at pump users, but you can probably work out how it applies to MDI...

It's certainly helped me, as I no longer fear night hypos and get fewer daytime hypos.

I have never done a basal test lol but im going to be learning simple carbs tommorow so will ask about it 🙂
how long do u do the test for ??

Yeah I have never bothered to take an extra injection for a biscuit or somethin lol I can survive until im hungry or my next meal 🙂 4 times is enough for mee.

I was going to be a pump bore, but Northerner beat me to it 🙂! If you like all that small stuff and really tight control, the way to go is the pump. You don't just have half units, you have tenths of units...! And when you want a biscuit, you have one. And no injections.

All this talk of campaigning...we should start one called BFB: bolus for a biscuit.

Oh dear. Night all.

Emma Lou - back to the issue of driving - the key point is whether you notice that you are heading towards a hypo, and if so, at what level / blood glucose reading?

Sometimes i notice and sometimes i dont. It can be 3.8 - 4.5 sometimes and i can feel it going low. Other times it just happens, but i must know otherwise i wouldnt check my blood sugar. And when i dont feel it till its about 2.5 its usally when ive tested and then i feel the symptoms. Its like i see the low reading and then smack bang i start feeling like c**p! Havent had a hypo for 3 days now though🙂
