Relationship to Diabetes
Type 1
hiiii
I've had diabetes now for 9 years and believe it or not never actually talked to another diabetic who is the same age or around the same age as me?!
Shocking ey? xD

So anyone in their teens or out leave us a reply 🙂

I'm not a teen but thought I'd reply anyway 🙂

i think talking to other people with diabetes is great. I work with 2 other type 1's which is cool, one of them can just tell when I'm low. My brother and my mum both have diabetes, my partners mum and dad are both type 2's, so i'm pretty much surrounded by diabetes!

childrenwithdiabetes.com has a good forum and a specific teen section which has quite alot of people posting regulary.

Welcome!

Welcome Hanaaa! (Nice spelling!) Good to see you here - and hopefully more teens will be around soon 😱) I have never known any other diabetics either - hence this site!

I'm not in my teens either but still technically fairly young I guess, or at least like to think so! I don't know any other type 1s locallyeither which can get very frustrating! That's why I think forums like this are so important, there are plenty of us out there!!!!!

I'm constanly amazed at the number of people who say they know someone else who has diabetes when you tell them you have it, but I've never really met anyone else myself outside of a diabetes related meeting.

hi im not in my teens but am only just turned 20 lol so... i have had diabetes for 13 years now and have also never met another diabetic the same age as me or another diabetic for that matter lol... get in touch if you would like to chat xx

Hi guys

I was diagnosed in the summer hols between year 6 and 7...I only ever knew about diabetes from a character in neighbours who had it! Knew of 2 people a few years older than me who had it and the diabetes nurse introduced me to them but I didn't really get to know them well.

Im now 23, and should be looking after my condition better- Hba1 was 12.4% a few years ago and now got it down to 8.3% but the clinic still rnt happy with it! Ive done a sports science degree, and am now working as a personal trainer and have a dream of specialising in the diabetes side of things- just think that when I was diagnosed I had to work it all out for myself on the exercise side and now I wana help other people and also get them in shape and prove that we can do great things even with the condition.

Any comments on the diabetes and exercise area from you younger guys??
