Hi Jackqie

I am here if you want someone to talk to. There are many other parents here too.

My son is 12 and was diagnosed with type1 just over two years ago when he was age 10. I understand all that you must be going through at the moment.

You will find so much support and understanding on here so please stay around.

If you prefer to pm (private message) then please feel free to do this with me anytime.

Do you have any particular concerns?

Welcome and nice to meet you. 🙂

welcome ...as the others said the parents section on this site is amazing...Im sure you ll get lots of support🙂

Hi Jacqkie, welcome to the forum🙂 I can only imagine how difficult and distressing the past seven weeks have been. Be assured that you will learn to cope in time, and here you will find the support of many parents who have been through exactly what you are going through now. Don't be afraid to ask any questions - there will always be someone here to offer you advice or the benefit of their experience, or just a sympathetic ear when it all becomes too much.

Hi Jacqkie, welcome to the forum. It's a great place for help, advice, support and, when you feel like it, a good moan!! Everyone here's in the same boat one way or another. There's so much to learn, but honestly, you'll be surprised how much you can learn in a short space of time, especially with lovely people on here to help and guide you.

xx

Hi Jacqkie, my son is 8 and was diagnosed on 13th (unlucky for some) August 2009, you're right it feels like a life time ago. I hope you find this site helpful, it has given me such comfort to know we're not the only family in the world going through what seems like complete chaos at times! Ask any question you like, someone will always have a bit of advice or just a word of support for you.
Feel free to send me a message anytime.
Caryn 🙂

Hi Jacqkie,

Welcome to the site I hope you and your little girl find it helpful and of some support. Can't imagine how hard it is to hear your child has diabetes. There are many parents on here who are so supportive and helpful to all of us so you are not alone and also all us diabetics.Don't be afraid to ask any questions on here or feel that anything is a stupid question were all still learning about our diabetes. 🙂

your not on your own

Hi,

Parent of T1 diabetic Son, aged 10, diagnosed aged 3...although im much more things besides just that 🙂

chin up , i know what you must be feeling at present and yes it does feel like your whole world has just crumbled around you ( i know thats how i felt anyway) but things will get easier than were you are at now, it'll just take a little while to take everything all in and then you'll reach a point were you realise you just have to get on with things and fit the diabetes in with everything else .

You'll find that theres lots of support and lots of parents on sites like this who will know exactly what your going through .

take care n hugs to both you and your daughter 🙂

Hi and welcome aboard. My son was diagnosed in June aged 8. I can't tell you how valuable this forum has been. Knowing that you are not on your own dealing with this condition is (sadly!) so reassuring. We have learned so much from so many lovely people.

Keep your chin up. There's always someone here to listen.

Take Care

Jan
