Hi,

I know people have said that their sugars have been lower in the first few months of pregnancy but mine seem to be going sky high.

Last night they were up to 18 and it took all night and through the night for them to come down (I gave about 4 corrections which didn't seem to budge them!)

I was 5.4 when I woke this morning but now they have shot up to 18 again! I've just took a correction of 4 units so I'll see what they are in the next 2 hours.

Think I'm gonna make an appointment to see my DSN for some advice! don't know whether its my bolus or my basel that I need to change as I'm on a pump.

Has anyone else had this effect? On Sunday morning though I had a huge hypo that also took ages to correct.!!!

I was the same in my first trimester - there was just no predicting what would happen.

Monitor, monitor, monitor! Give corrections where you need to and speak to your DSN who should be able to help. The (few) hypos that I had were always horrible and took me hours to get to a normal level - and then they'd rebound and I'd be high again!

I don't have a pump so can't help there but I was told in my first and second trimesters to lower my lantus and was taking less insulin than I was before pregnancy - I'm boosting it up again now though (32 weeks). I've been getting up twice a night for the duration of my pregnancy to test and have been correcting which the doctor told me was making things worse as he thought I was hypoing in my sleep and rebounding. It's possible that you need to make a few tweaks somewhere.
