Well, what's going to happen to that blob of insulin? It won't get injected into you when you do the actual injection, it'll just get wiped off onto the skin as the needle goes in, so it's not going to affect your levels. I just ignore it.

When I used syringes I injected air into the vial and then tilted it upside down to withdraw the insulin. That involved withdrawing more than you needed and then flicking the syringe to get the air bubbles towards the needle before expelling it back into the vial. Didn't waste any with air shots like you see on the medical dramas on telly. Could sometimes take two or three goes to get it right.

The blob didn't bother me per se. However - I know VERY well that if my skin is wet where I actually stab - I used to run the blob over a hair somewhere near the site to get it off the needle tip. Then inject with a nice dry as possible needle tip.

Aye, this is not a problem. It’s never crossed my mind.

I must admit, I do tend to inject through my shirt, which absorbs any stray drips. I wouldn’t recommend this as a standard technique to do that, though.😉
