Type 1
Hallo everyone. Have been type 1 for 62yrs on various insulins and recently a Gluten Free diet. Now using Freestyle Libre 2 and find alarms especially helpful, as I have little hypo awareness. Celebrated my 80th on Wed., so feel very fortunate!

Welcome to the forum @F1959

I’ve split your post into its own thread, so that you get a proper welcome 🙂

Wow! 62 year is quite an innings!

We have a fair few long-termers on the forum for you to compare notes with. I’m a relative newbie with only 30 years on the clock.

You must have seen lots of changes over the years 🙂

Happy 80th birthday

Wow! Congratulations on both counts and welcome. I hope to learn lots from your very extensive experience and perhaps you can learn some new tricks from the forum. Every day is a school day with diabetes no matter how long you have had it from what I have heard..... I'm still on the bottom rungs of the ladder with just 2 years in but this forum is a goldmine of experience and knowledge. Hope you find it as beneficial as I do and look forward to hearing more from you.

Welcome @F1959 and a belated Happy 80th Birthday! 🙂 62 years of Type 1 is a great achievement. I’d be interested in any tips you have!

Hello and welcome to the forum.
A belated very happy Birthday to you and congratulations on the 62 years with type 1 diabetes. I will have to get my skates on as only at the 56 year mile stone 🙂

Well done @F1959. And Happy Birthday
good to have your varied experience on here.

Thank you everyone for your good wishes and I'm sure I will be able to learn a lot from reading your posts. I also hope that at some time I may be able to offer some help and advice.
Unfortunately I am having a few problems with Blepharitis and Blepharospasm in my eyes (not diabetes related) which makes reading and using a computer more difficult, so I can't spend a lot of time in front of a screen.
The joys of getting older??!
