When you have diabetes, it can feel like your daily to-do list is endless. You're tracking your blood sugars, medications, diet, and exercise.

That can be a lot to take care of every day. It can make you feel burned out.

"When you have a chronic illness, everybody wants a day off from that, or a week or a month off," says David Spero, RN, author of Diabetes: Sugar-Coated Crisis.

But you can't do that with diabetes. So how do you avoid diabetes burnout and keep a positive mindset?

Some days will be harder than others, but there are ways to do it.

That's a good list Alan, very practical and positive.

It can be difficult to crawl out from under the weight of D some weeks, and while it's never going to be easy to dodge burnout completely, some simple tips and ways to think about things like that can be very useful in finding a way out.

Very good points Northerner - do you mind if I post the link elsewhere?

The link didn't seem to work for me - it just takes me to the diabetes health centre - please could you tell me what links to follow from the home page?

The link should take you straight there as the article is part of the page link. Have you tried paging down? There's a lot of clutter on the page so the tips may start further down from what you initially see 🙂

If you get a pop-up asking you to select country just bypass/cancel it rather than choosing the UK version (been had by that before on that site)
