Big day tomorrow - first blood test since diagnosis, which was 74 (July 2018). Many things to remember, they are as follows:-
a) I have never ever ever self test as advised by the GP.
b) I don't keep a food diary
c) I have been eaten pork and shellfish at every meal.
d) Agree with everything the DN says, do the blood test and get out of there.
e) Don't mention the chocolate eclair

OK, ignoring the above - my blood sugars have been between 5-6 since September. Although I do have porridge (with water) for brekkie and that does produce a bit of a spike - today it was 8.1 (forgot to early morning test). But I think that is OK. Would anyone like to hazard a guess as to what the result could be? As I am overly cautious I suspect between 44-50. That gives me loads of wriggle room. 🙄😛

Once this is out of the way and if the results are ok I suspect it will be the Metformin battle - currently on 4 a day (2xam and 2xpm), am happy to reduce but not to stop them until I learn how much they are helping or is it the diet and exercise...that will take time to work out.Am already thinking my strategy because as we know there is very little time for any meaningful discussion at the surgery. Need to be prepared...😛

Well you have the main things well in hand there Sharron!

However - turn the tables on her - having gone through the preliminaries and ask her ("expert" ROFLMAO) advice on how best to proceed from here - and sit waiting with eager anticipation for her response!

That is a great idea. Will do that

Good luck!

I guess 35.

Best of luck . My guess is 41.

Don’t forget the nod and smile technique, if she insists on things you know don’t work for you.

41 will do for me.Anyhow it is all over with and she said very little and I said even less 🙄 No need to make a further appointment if the number is between 35 and 42. Well in a couple of days time all will be revealed. That is if can work out the online patient access - really don't want a chat with the receptionist about my blood test.

Good luck with the result Sharron. How is the weight now?
Many thanks. As for the weight it appears to be stuck at 8 stone 5 which isn't great but I am now used to it. I have also been seeing a physio for my torn leg muscles and the exercises seem to have returned some of the muscle which is making me feel better. How are things with you?

HI Sharron,
Sorry to read about your injury, good that it is recovering
Still struggling with weight loss, now down to 7st 12lb, 49.6 kg. Have been making big effort to eat more. Using a nagging ap that insists I need more calories, and increases target each time activity is logged. However eating just to get calories feels unatural. Plus it insists on more carbs, but that gets ignored.

Good luck. It isn't easy that is for sure.

I kind of know what you mean, but surely there must be some treats you could eat more often - eg having a pudding after your lunch and dinner eg some full fat Greek yoghurt with a few raspberies or other fruit. Doesn't have to be jam roly poly and custard!

Oh believe me I do, the yogurt and fruit is a daily occurance. When T2 was diagnosed I met a friend of mine who is a GP and she gave me some wonderful advice. It was that keep to low carbs but eat normal food just small portions. She was right. One of the best pieces of advice I was given. :D

Excellent advice, IMO!

That definitely makes a lot of sense.
A smaller plate sounds mad but it definitely helps.

Yoghurt and berries are a staple. In fact the ap is complaining too much saturated fat, main source, greek yoghurt. Am managing to gradually increase fats, but its an uphill struggle. Tummy still complains sometimes, just not so loudly, or uncomfortably.
Today am having one piece of Burgen bread, toasted, with pate, enough for two slices, followed by a satsuma for lunch. with a cup of tea 433 calories.

I thought you wanted to put weight ON ? Nowhere near enough protein, you still can't get that much of anything on 2 slices of Burgen can you, cos they're so little, the fat content might be Ok depending on how fatty the pate is, but not enough roughage either. That's not enough calories anyway for weight gain - what are you aiming for each day? I'd be looking at a rough max of 1500 cals daily to LOSE weight at 5ft 3ins.

Have found full size Burgen loaves. Slightly more carbs per slice ofc. 90g of pate on that one slice.
Keep thinking by now I should have this cracked.
Today managed to hit, and exceed by 18, calorie target of 1850. Target varies as ap adds more when exercise is logged.
Never expected to find just eating enough hard work.
