I started on insulin and started to feel better, after an Easter weekend of excessive chocolate eating, not knowing I had diabetes

And 5 years on.... things are good, on the whole (apart from losing my brand new Novopen echo whilst out walking at the weekend! Darn hole in pocket....)

Just thought I'd share my anniversary with anyone out there who's newly diagnosed. I remember my first thought was "I wish I'd never gone to the doctors as then nothing would have changed and I'd not have this diagnosis". But soon I felt so much better and realised how lousy I'd been feeling for 6 months - so the diagnosis itself, whilst a blow, wasn't that terrible, it was a means of working out what was wrong and putting it right.

Off to text my best friend, who was the first person I told. She was great and so understanding, so I need to thank her.

Your positive attitude is inspirational - know that thought well when first diagnosed - is ignorance bliss ?? Congratulations xx
