Today, I will celebrate 5 years without a pancreas. 5 years is not such a long period to enjoy the "Complications, Confusion and Contradictions" of diabetes. [Why do those 3 Cs also sometimes remind me of Tech, on-line applications or Moving house?]
My Diaversary is also marking my Whipple's Procedure and Pancreatic Cancer survival (5 Feb 20) and that is the real thing I shall celebrate. Not a big celebration. Just a nice meal out this evening with my wife and a mindful reflection that things could gave turned out a lot, lot worse. I may be old(ish), sometimes feel old (!) and can look really old (to our grandson or the mirror). But I am grateful I can celebrate.
