Hi everyone After 45 years with diabetes, thought it was time to join in and try and learn some more.
I’m hoping I can get some helpful advice from you all xx

Hi and welcome @Jan78 glad you’ve joined us 🙂

I hope the last 45 years years have been kind to you, I’m also from the Class of 1978

Are you using MDI or pump? Libre or other cgm? There is some great tech around now, I still can’t quite believe I can see my glucose level on my watch!

Welcome to the forum @Jan78

Glad you have joined us!

You never stop learning (and relearning!) things about managing your diabetes do you?

What insulin(s) do you currently use? And do you use pens or pump?

Have you ever done DAFNE or a similar course? Are younusing sensors like Libre or Dexcom?

I currently use the Libre 2 Which has been really good.
I am currently on novo rapid and tresiba which I’ve just changed from 100 to 200 nightmare, was told to half the dose, I have myself changed back to my normal dose

How odd @Jan78 !

If you have a 200u pen, my understanding is that the adjustment is made for you and 1u still equals 1u. I believe you would only half the ‘apparent’ dose if you were using a delivery device meant for 100u insulin (which would be pretty confusing, and isn’t recommended!)

My thoughts exactly, by being told to half the dose my sugars where through the roof,I mean 30 + at its highest but averaging 20+. Last night I went back to my usual units and this afternoon I’m back to normal .

I think you need to feed this back to whoever gave you the advice.

I know 200u insulin is treated with great caution by some HCPs, because the risk of someone double-dosing with a 100u calibrated syringe is quite alarming, but it sounds like they gave you duff (and potentially dangerous) advice if you were using a prefilled pen!

Yeh pre-filled pen, advice and new 200 pen was given by pharmacist/gp I also checked a local pharmacist who also said half it. This is so dangerous. Thank you so much for listening, I thought mad .

Seems so odd that multiple HCPs got this so wrong!
