I know this is bad. I had half a burger with half a dozen chips midday yesterday and that was all I managed all day and I suffered for it most of the day.. Today was a mini pain chocolate this morning and a packet of Wotsits just now despite going swimming today. All other calories have been from glucojuice/wine/champagne. I know this is bad but a combination of gastroparesis/mourning for mum is taking away my appetite but leaving me rather tipsy! Hoping to eat better this evening...

What have you had for tea, @AJLang?

Sometimes we have to get by any way we can Amanda but hoping you can manage to get your normal food routine going again soon because it's obviously taking its toll on your tum now! :(

Thank you Copepod and Amigo. I'm hoping to eat pitta bread and dips for tea - not healthy but it seemed like a good idea when I went to the supermarket this afternoon. I remember when Susie died I lost my appetite for a few months and worried Mark...but it was great for weight loss. Sorry my sense of humour is slight askew at the moment.

Thank you Lucy xx Mark is just putting together something for me to eat xx

You are going through a such difficult time right now, I know that's putting it mildly .
Eat what you feel able to, do try for more calories though.
I wish I could give you a real hug, but I'll just have to settle for my favourite one as my arms just won't reach you

I feel for you, Amanda, I can so sympathize with the lack of appetite during periods of grief... Just try & remember the good times with your Mum....

Sending hugs and agree with others just eating what you can is best, be gentle with yourself. Nothing wrong with your sense of humour! :D

When we are in a state of grief nothing seems to matter that much and certainly not what am I going to eat. Be kind to yourself at this sad time and just have what you want for a while. Hopefully your appetite will return. Give your grief time to express itself, it is quite normal for you to feel as you do. Mark sounds a lovely supportive person. Take care of yourself. I am sending you lots of hugs and positive thoughts {}

Thank you everyone. I am very lucky to have all of you, my wonderful Mark and fortunately my sense of humour is still hanging in there in between the difficult/sad times 🙂

Amanda, when my brother died I didn't want to eat either. I ate a lot of custard, purely to keep my sugars up. and rice pudding. I also did a lot of fast food because I couldn't be bothered to cook.

I know it's not great, but it's not forever. Basically my suggestion to you would be to just eat what you fancy. And while you'll look after your diabetes, not to worry too much about having perfect sugars. It's a rough time and you need to think of you.

Thank you Amberzak x
