My pupils are naturally big so don't need the drops to make them bigger! I'm always told at the start that they may need to redo images if not clear enough, but so far so good.
I am lucky, never needed to get drops but always the caveat that they might need to use them. Got drops at optician when they were being “over cautious” looking for an unusual type of glaucoma. Not nice, but negative
