Hi I've just spoken with my diabetic nurse over new blood results and I'm really chuffed with the results ☺️
On diagnosis in August my HbA1C was 94 its now 54, so I can come off gliclazide now
My cholesterol has also come down from 6.8 to 5.2 so I can avoid taking statins for a while longer
I've managed to stop smoking for the last 6 weeks too
And have lost 7kgs so far
I know I've still a long way to go but just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who gave advice and support here when I didn't know where to turn

That's a brilliant set of results - well done. Keep doing what you're doing and hopefully you'll see further improvements next time. Also good to see that you don't need the Gliclazide any more. Next time maybe off the Metformin, too.

Cool, good results, nice one, keep on doing whatever it is that you are doing as it is obviously working for you. Cheers 🙂

I did 91 to 47 and then 41 at the 6 month test - you could be heading for similar results (just to encourage you) and then sticking there for years, no problems and feeling pretty chipper about life in general.

Great results You should give yourself a well earned pat on the back. Good to hear you can reduce your medication. I am hopeful that my next HbA1c test in Feb 25 will let me do the same. It's very encouraging to hear that the changes you have made are really making a difference

Thank you everyone I've made some big changes in the last 3 months especially with my diet and feel much better for it now

Wow! You don't do things by halves do you! You really are doing fantastically well in stopping smoking as well as making dietary changes. Many, many congratulations on your excellent results and very best of luck continuing with that success. I hope your nurse gave you a very big pat on the back because you deserve it!
