HEALTHY people could be given a daily dose of a diabetes “wonderdrug” to protect against a host of killer diseases, according to research.

A British scientist has found that a commonly prescribed diabetes drug – already taken by millions of patients to control blood sugar levels – could stave off cancer and heart disease.

The findings of the 2p-a-day metformin drug come just days after researchers said that all healthy people should take a daily aspirin when they turn 50 to protect against cancer.

The large-scale study – published in the journal Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolism – involved more than 180,000 people.

Lead researcher Professor Craig Currie, of Cardiff University’s School of Medicine, found that patients treated with metformin – the first-line drug for Type 2 diabetes – can live longer than people without the condition.

So, healthy people are now supposed to be taking at least three medications: metformin, aspirin and statins...🙄 Have they considered the dangers to the ozone layer from all that extra metformin use? 😱

That was my immediate thought Alan! :D:D

Ozone layer is damaged by CFCs from refridgerants, former aerosols etc. Methane and carbon dioxide cause enhanced greenhouse effect.
