2nd pregnancy and blood highs during the night/morning

Yes that is the one as they mentioned about the Libre 3 with it and the CamAps. Ahhh that is so interesting to hear about how it didn't work for a lady who is pregnant. I'll definitely bear this in mind too. Yes it is really strict requirements in pregnancy, I'm hoping I'm slowly getting there as I'm noticing small changes so far which is good. One being I'm not correcting high numbers of short acting insulin like before which was 13 units. Most I've done since Levemir increase is 5 units short acting as a correction

My team uses the Dana pump and CamAps for pregnant women @mrsnnm . The Dana pump is the most popular pump at my clinic anyway. I use it now but don’t loop with it (through choice). It’s an excellent pump IMO.

No need to apologise at all @mrsnnm 🙂 I don’t remember when exactly I increased my basal during pregnancy. I did it in little steps, but I do know most of the increase was in the 2nd half. By the end of my last pregnancy, my basal had almost quadrupled!
Thankyou so much, my tired parent and pregnancy brain is not serving me well lately.

Yes I remember when I was pregnant first time with my son, by the end, I was on alot of insulin! It was so surprising and then after birth, back to regular insulin requirements before pregnancy. It's crazy how much it increases towards the end right?!

Ahhh is that pump also part of the closed loop as they've only mentioned the y pump to me as part of the funding from hospital. Is there a reason why you don't loop?

Yes, the Dana pump can loop with CamAps. It precedes the Ypsopump, I think. I chose not to loop because I don’t like the idea of the pump doing things itself, and also I think I can do a better job myself :D

Ahhh your reasons are valid, you know your body best would you wake up yourself to check if you're hitting dp, and setting the pump yourself to administer rather than relying on information from the sensor to do that? If that is how a closed circuit works?

My pump has hourly basal rates that I’ve adjusted to stop my DP. My insulin starts increasing from around 3am and increases each hour until I get up. I don’t need to wake to do that. The pump does it as I sleep. My basal rates are pre-programmed to take into account my DP. They also cover Foot on the Floor. My pump releases tiny amounts of insulin as basal every few minutes according to the hourly rates I’ve set on my pump. Hope that makes sense 🙂

That's really good - how smart and i assume you're able to change the rates as and when on the pump too? It does make sense, thankyou

Yes, I can change the basal rates whenever I want, either on the pump or on my phone via bluetooth. I can also put on temporary increases or decreases for exercise, illness, etc. I found the pump particularly useful during pregnancy as it was so easy to change my basal. Also, my pump has different basal profiles, so as soon as I’d given birth, I simply pressed a button and chose my normal pre-pregnancy basal rates and went back to those immediately.

That is really clever! Im so glad that a pump has a really worked for you

Hi @mrsnnm, I was just reading your thread and wanted to say that I’m currently 27 weeks pregnant and I’m on the ypsopump with camaps, so I’m looping. It’s been great during pregnancy! It definitely won’t work for everyone, it’s not a perfect system and I’d be lying if I’d be saying there aren’t some (minor) issues that I need to deal with. Overall I wouldn’t want to go back though, especially in pregnancy.

Whatever you decide to do, you will manage. But I wanted to come on and say the ypso can be very good and I wouldn’t want you to stop trying it due to fear of change. I changed onto the pump around 10 weeks pregnant (I was on a different HCL though) and I remember being terrified due to the potential of it not working and me harming baby. None of that happened and I’ve benefitted massively to the point that my Hba1c is now 35mmol without too much stress.

If you have any questions please feel free to ask me!

Thankyou so much for your comment lovely. It's so great to hear your success with the pump at the moment, I've put the pump on a backburner, as i seem to be getting a handle on my sugars but it's something I'm not saying no to, maybe just not right now. I'll definitely bear you in mind if I need any more advice and support, thankyou

Glad your BGs are behaving themselves a bit better now @mrsnnm

I’m not sure I’d want to switch away from the familiarity of MDI to a pump mid-pregnancy either! But do consider it in the future if your clinic approve you for it.
