Good Morning All

Hope all are keeping well, sure do wish the weather would warm up and settle.

I am due for my bg test tomorrow I am thinking its going to be high.

My query is for those that have noticed ups and downs after covid vaccine (where is was stable previously) are you getting high readings without the other symptoms, ie without tiredness, blurred vision or frequent urination?

I can't fathom what's going on, high levels without any of the symptoms that go with.

I had my 2nd jab on 21 April.

Grateful for any input from those who are experiencing this.

Many thanks

Jodee 🙂

I'm the opposite T2(mostly) had first jab on Monday past and I've got all the symptoms of a hyper,( my last hba1c was 120 diagnosed last month at 143)headache, dizzyness, tinnitus, thirst etc but my bs has only fluctuated a bit (for me) going from 7/8 at waking to 10/12 in the evening but dropping to 6ish at lunch, very strange.

mmm that is fluctuation in Blood glucose levels from what you say Stuvart. Thanks for sharing.

I have also had higher BG than I was normally getting also I
have had a reaction this time with the 2nd jab of joint pain in
the left arm from elbow to wrist it is easing and a litle better
today but I am now very wary of having anymore jabs

@RirisR - Hope you are soon feeling much better, I think the vaccine side affects are a small price to pay really - Covid on the other hand we know can be life threatening and cause long term health issues. Its a difficult one with the BG being higher for some but possibly in your case it could be this occurred because you were feeling poorly.

@Anitram Hi Martin Great news no affect on your BG after 2nd dose, not so good with your first dose. I had the Pfizer vaccine and both times no side affects at all not even a sore arm except the blood glucose levels seem to be up and down. Quite drastic from 7.2 to 12 mmol, sometimes down to 5.5 and 6.5 of course that does indicate the diabetes is out of control, not sure how much is due to the vaccine.

Thanks for replying both.

I had my 2nd dose of the Pfizer vaccine on Friday 23/04/2021 at 11:22 and was fine during the day, but after dinner I bounced up to 11/12 and stayed there all night until I had a correcting dose of 4 units at 05:15 which me me down to 7 by 09:15. Had breakfast with normal dose and felt fine, but 3 hours later had a mild hypo. So in my case the 2nd dose produced erratic/volatile results for a day. My Sunday results were back to normal.
I did take many readings on Friday, Saturday and Sunday ... a small price to pay for the extra protection of the 2nd dose.

i spoke to a DN about the issue with the vaccines and BG levels and apparently having the vaccine causes increases in inflammation which in turn is then causing BG levels to go pear shape. once things settle down then the BG levels should follow suit, should 🙄

Pear shaped is a good description. From various discussions I gather that Astra Zeneca is generally bad 1st dose and better with the 2nd dose, which is exactly the opposite way round to my Pfizer experiences and apparently that is quite common.

Very interesting to read all your experiences with the jab. I had my jab at the end of January and my levels shot up and have remained high ever since! Metformin doubled last month but hasn’t made much difference. Starting glicazide from today. Hopefully that will make a difference

Still getting dizzy spells from mine on Monday (1st jab) going to speak to the doc today. Hopefully its nothing major but who knows.

My OH had dizzyness and vertigo for a few days following the 2nd Pfizer jab. It was unpleasant but did diminish and the pass off.
I had my second AZ jab yesterday not even a sore arm (YET!!).

I have had the same experience but I am Type 1. I have had to progressively increase my insulin doses since the first vaccine on Feb 11th to keep control of my levels. I am now on almost double the insulin I was before the vaccine and levels are still a bit higher than I would like a lot of the time.

The doc reckons bbpv (vetigo) from high/fluctuating sugars and one of the rare side effects of the jab all ganging up and having a go it should let up in a day or 2 hopefully.
sheesh! as if only 6 weeks into having diabetes wasn't enough‍♂️.

My OH isn't diabetic but is on medications for all sorts of other things. He rattles.

Well in my case the inflammation is still ongoing I wonder
how long this will go on for did anyone say Mikey when they think
it will go 2 or 3 weeks perhaps not happy bunny here

i asked about some pain relief i had to stop and the nurse told me to wait after the 3rd week so will see what happens then if i get no reactions to it then i know things are beginning to settle.

what gets me i have had plenty of vaccines but not experienced any thing like what is going on. to stop medications which i need is not good.

when it comes to the second dose sorry to say i am not having astra and am going to ring my doctors for an alternative.
