My grown up daugter has had a chest infection , with a coarse of antibiotics. This has left her with a blinding headache & sensative to light. Shes been in a darkend room and taking paracetamol.(Antibiotics and infection gone.) Went back to a locam doctor yesterday , to be told he wasnt conserned(thats ok for him to say) This means shes had this headache for 2 weeks. Has any one else had this problem. As you would expect her BM,S have been up and down all over the place. But no ketones. (2 weeks off work as well :( ) Should she be worried. I think one of the bigest problems is that when ever she goes to the doctor all they can see is the" WOMEN WITH DIABETIES" she musnt be looking after her self. 😡

Just wanted to bump this so its not forgotten about, sorry to hear about your daughter Quinny hope she gets over the horrible headache asap xx hugs

Hi, i have had a range of symptoms including a never ending headaches morning till night. Same response from docs -you are diabetic and adjusting😱. After umpteen visits they were scratching their heads and wrote to my consultant requesting he sees me. In the process of eliminating other immune disorders. Not to say they will find anything but has put my mind at rest knowing they are looking. I would suggest to see her own consultant and not the junior people usually see. If blood sugars are unstable and other symptoms, hopefully the consultant will have some answers for you, even if its to put her mind at rest.

The main things to note is how long hs she been diabetic, amount of insulin used and what type of insulin. Are sugars usually stable and does she know her carb to insulin ratios

Thanks for helping. Saw another gp Yesterday and she says its migraine. Gave her asprin(explaining it works in a diffrent way to paricetamol) and today the headache has gone. Fingers crossed it stays away. What a diffrence a diffrent A young, enthusiastic, doctor makes.

That's good to hear. GPs don't have to attribute everything to diabetes 😡. What if this headache was something more serious than migraine(I'm not saying migraine isn't serious)

fortunately I don't get migraine type headaches very often but when I do I find that I need a combination of ibuprofen and paracetamol - this is a safe combination and neither type of painkiller will work on its own when I have my bad headaches
