Hi I was dx diabetic type 2 last month. I have now been for bloods and the results are HbAc1 49 (6.6%) slightly high blood pressure.. slightly high chlorestrol, also slightly overweight (BMI 26). I also am on 75mg Levothyroxine for under active thyroid.
On a previous visit to my GP he suggested he would put me on BP meds (ramipril) and statins. I am reluctant to do this as when I check my BP at home the results are average 130/70.
After being on Metformin 500 mg x1 per day for 3 weeks I now feel quite well- do you think that if I suggest postponing taking more meds (possibly bringing on more side affects!) would be a wise move?
I have an appointment with my GP tomorrow morning.
Since mid September 2011, I have lost one stone in weight- simply by re- educating my taste buds and eating a GI diet.

Well done for losing all that weight and bringing down your HbA1C 🙂

Hi Chedder,

How did you get on this morning?

Very well done on your weight loss and that hbA is great. x

Hi,
GP put me on ramipril 250mg x1 .. I did ask if this med could be delayed but apparently the guidelines are now for this to be given regardless of the BP readings. It being an ACE inhibitor it will prevent high BP and protect the kidneys! And you know what they say "prevention is better than cure!" lol

The service and treatment that I am being given as a result of my dx is excellent. I am even to get a phone call from Boots ( from where I got my script ) next Friday just to see how I am getting on with the Ramipril !
I also had a letter to book my appt. for a D iabetic retinal screening. My feet and legs are going to be checked next month.. and then follows another visit to my GP..
Good job I'm retired and have got nothing else to do! lol
At least my social life is getting a boost!

Thanks very much for asking

regards Liz
