I was wondering, with the 15 minute rule of treating a hypo with fast acting glucose, is 15 minutes the peak time that the sugars will get to or will they continue to rise thereafter ? ( we don't follow up with a carby snack after as we are pumping )

Giving this a little push so that it is not missed and others have a chance to help if they can

A glass of sugary drink, OJ or coke/lucozade will normally peak after 15/20 mins for me and unless I'm in the 2s I rarely follow up with a carby snack, unless I've been doing a lot of exercise and feel my levels are still dropping as I take the drink, hope this helps.

Hi Hanmillmum,

I can only share my experience with Nathan on this, he does'nt pump and has been on MDI since diagnosis.

It depends on his BG at the time but usually it is followed by a carb after fast acting sugar, however, if the hypo is close to meal times then no.

I think it depends greatly on the individual and how they feel. But with Nathan being quite active, I tend to air in the side of caution.
