5 years in - Feet bit iffy (circulation excellent, sensetivity moderate) blood pressure a bit high, then told Bg??? 5.8% is too good for a type 1 and maybe I'm not! Confused. com!

oh dear, that's not very helpful!!!

and 5.8% can be achieved through good control. surely if you've injected to reach a HBA1c of 5.8% you must be T1 diabetic??

I'm guessing they've said it for some reason and they're going to investigate further??? rather than leaving you with an unhelpful comment!!

Really don't know, but thanks, Was told my my bs readings (6.8> 7.6 average in the morning) are too low and I need to test more than I do to ensure I don't become relaxed to realising I'm having hypos? ow gonna test 3 times a day at least and see what happens...thanx

That's nonsense, what are they basing that assumption on? That they don't see too many with such good results, so there must be some mistake with your diagnosis? My last HbA1c was 5.5%. Before that I was 5.9, 5.6, 5.6, 5.4 etc. In fact, I have been in the 5s practiacally since I was diagnosed, and it's not due to having loads of hypos (although it might have been in the early days).

As far as I'm concerned that's a good result Ron - well done! 🙂

Cheers N, I feel good overall. Sometimes wonder why I bother with the annual (but now they want to see me in 6 months!) check up when the feedback is not as expected. Maybe I'm just picking up the negatives. Thanks again for the replies.

i think i would have felt confused after that too, all i can say is congrats on such a low level, increased testing will help you have a bigger picture, if you are really unhappy ask for further clarification at your next appointment, i like to know where i stand and understand what they have said, otherwise it does leave you feeling rather negative

How can levels that are just around the upper end of the desirable range be too low? My readings are regularly (in fact usually) in the 5s on waking, so it would be interesting to hear what they would say to me!

Regardless of HbA1c, it's reasonably to call back someone in 6 months IF they have a complication - in RWJ's case, reduced sensitivity in feet. If that clears up by next check, he might well be back to annual check ups.

But agree, explanation (who was it who gave verdict at clinic?) was somewhat lacking / inadequate!

Still getting proper hypo warnings? - in my book your BG isn't too low if they are 100% there as soon as you hit 3.99 !

And in any case if your BG is 5, your meter readings would usually be 6-ish generally - so yours must surely be over 6 ....... ?
