This is simply remarkable for me.
I dont worry too much about hypos I feel them coming when Im in the 4s and always carry some stuff around with me. Problem was I was having about 1 or 2 a day.
I would never call them hypos though as they are usually dipping into the 3.5 - 4mmol range. I guess I dont consider it such a horrible medical term till im sub 3.5mmol maybe? Im just low. Nothing that munching a quick dextrose tablet cant fix.
With learning my diabetes as well as possible throughout the last few months Ive got to know where Im heading, and by testing before and after meals I know what my bloods are doing. For example, If I test after a meal (especially one low in fat) and im around 4 or 5mmol , I know roughly im going to drop a further 2mmol before my next meal (Dependant on the size of meal and therefore the dosage of insulin and therefore the % of insulin on board) And this give me the oppertunity just stick a 5g carb snack in me gob and prevent this from happening. But to be honest Ive only had to do this a couple of times. I think the combination of my expert meter, My new half unit insulin pen (Which I love!!) and my growing experience is really taking effect now.
12 days and 1 hypo - a 3.1mmol waking result after a slightly boozy night out. My results Id say are a little higher than they would be normally, not terrifyingly so however.
Ive always said Id rather have a bg average of 7mmol with a page full of 7s, than a 6mmol average with a page full of 3s, 4s, 5s, 6s,7s, 8s, 9s,10s,11s and 12s! And I think I could be getting there
