Oh yes, I ticked most of them.

(Alan, WHAT are you doing posting at this time of the morning ?)

I would add the ability to get up in the morning do an injection, take tablets put in eye drops without realising that you've done it all because it's such an automatic part of the waking up ritual

I think Alan been hit by No3😱

No1 particularly had me in stitches..

Bringing back memories of tea last Tuesday at MIL's..

Now if you'd been a fly on the wall you would have never guessed that her son has been diabetic for 33 years😱

Tea consisted of Corned Beef sandwiches followed by Fruit Jelly (pears (Tinned)) and ice-cream!

She thought Jelly with fruit, would make a nice light change didn't realise that Jelly (standard type) was full of sugar!!!!!

But what she didn't tell me, is that the pears were tinned in syrup ahhhhhhhh

Hehe! I can't sleep once it gets light in the mornings so have to get up 🙂

Scary what your MIL is serving up! 😱

I could sleep for England. Being up at 5:40am because the sun is coming up? My brain can't compute this madness 😛

As for the 10 things, well:
1) I do this all the time! Then have to fish packets out the bin to find out, lovely job.
2) I can't say going for a walk has ever caused me this distress. Always got dextrose tabs in my pocket. Just grab a small snack or two from the cupboard and off I go.
3) Why does she have to go to the kitchen to test her BG? Just making things harder for herself by the sounds of it. 6:45am on a Sunday and she HAS to get up to check her BG and taker her insulin??? I slept in until 11:30am this morning 😛
4) I'm guessing this one is just a female thing
5) Maybe this is my newbieness (yes that's a word...ish) coming out, but in the 2 years I've been type 1, I can probably count the handful of times I've had to wipe my blood off something on 1 hand. Maybe she needs to use a lower setting on her finger pricker.
6) I've done this a few times when really hungry, but usually the time for a meal doesn't matter that much.
7) Hmm gotta love all the 'for diabetics' products out there.
8) Now I'm very organised with this stuff. Everything goes into a folder, in date order so I don't miss any appointments, check-ups, blood tests etc. Not missed one yet *touches wood*
9) Having lunch in a cinema??? Popcorn and sweets is cinema food, not a square meal you've prepared before hand 😛 And I tend to inject before the lights go out.
10) She must have a seriously crappy meter if it doesn't have a memory function. Do they even exist nowadays? She needs to treat herself, get a new one and enjoy this function greatly.

Sorry for the long post. I'm a bit bored 🙂

Oh my gosh I do that all the time - test my blood and forget the number straight away so I have to test again! I am so glad its not just me!

Lauren, your meter should have a memory function so you can press a key and see what your test result was 🙂 I have the problem with my insulin jabs though - I inject and then instantly forget how much I injected! 😱 Sometimes I foret whether I have injected at all, and sometimes I inject and then forget to eat!

RedRevis You said exactly what I was going to! I didn't find the piece especially funny at all, if I am honest, just quite ridiculous! Close to all the points she made were easily made easier or eradicated. Talk about making yourself feel like a cripple... Tsk!

I read it yesterday so can't recall all the points but certainly keep testing supplies plus glucose and insulin/ syringes ( although I'm on a pump) by my bedside- no staggering downstairs to deal with emergencies for me!
If on MDI however, I would have to supplelement my basal with fast acting at certain times as I needs an increase from 7 to 10 pm, much lower rate from 10 to 6 and then higher again til 10 pm, so I wouldn't discount an MDI er needing insulin at a certain time as unusual or a faiure on the part of the patient

My test meter is uber confusing. I would rather test again - its quicker lol! I preferred my old test meter. Although since I've had my pump I can see on there 🙂
