Just as I thought I'm gonna hit the supermarket, I got up felt dizzy, sat down and tested.

This is the lowest I've ever been. I can't believe I didn't feel it at first! 😱

Oh my goodness Di Thank goodness you are OK! That beats my lowest of 1.7 (which I most definitely felt! 😱) Can you think of any reason why it would drop so low? Was it a while since you had eaten/injected, or fairly soon after injecting? Hope that it doesn't happen again for a very long time - if ever! 🙂

I've been racking my brain as to why, was just over 2hrs after tea. I had pretzels, and dark chocolate before tea, lamb, sweet potato and veg for tea and 4 units novo (I'm paranoid about injecting wrong amount and always double check). I was having horrendous lady pains yesterday as well. But don't know if that had any impact.

I'm also wondering if having really good control again ie numbers below 6 most of the time is making me not feel hypo. Think hubby panicked last night and was barking orders at me and I got really angry with him. He made me drink a carton of orange juice and glucose tabs got to 3.4 within 20 mins and then 5.8 at bedtime.

But really I don't know what happened..... After I realised I felt dizzy I did get the shakes and then got the hot sweats

Sounds like it happened at the time that the NR was peaking, so perhaps it was simply too much NR for the carbs in the meal. Certainly, you will generally be feeling the symptoms at a lower level when your control has been really good, and there may be an element of inaccuracy in the meter reading (but not likely to be much, 10% at most). Perhaps the dact that you still had food in your belly meant that your body didn't 'panic' as much as it might otherwise? It's what I call a 'stealth hypo' - it sneaks up on you and it's only when you realise that you are so low that the full symptoms manifest themselves! 😱

I think it might be worth adjusting your NR down a smidgen - do you have a half-unit pen? Bear in mind if you are having a drink over Christmas that it can lower your levels and make hypos more difficult to spot, so regular tests and snacks with the voddies! 😉

Diane

Yes the lady pains could have an impact, my BG drops and I need Less insulin at this time of the month for a day or two..

So take a note of this, and see what happens next month maybe you might need to reduce your insulin at this time

wow - Di, look after yourself

Hope you are feeling lots better now. I had a 1.8 the other day and felt really bad, so you must have felt terrible. Happy Christmas to you.

Blimey Di that was low 😱 Glad youre feeling better now 🙂
