You could have 5.5 and know you were heading for a crash with or without CGM.

The issue isn't so much the insistence on a 5 (which I do object to because as you correctly say 4.8 is often no problem) -it's the complete failure to give clear guidance that is an outrage
It’s because I wouldn’t know whether a 5.5 was heading for a crash that I got the Libre system. And I don’t think the guidance is an outrage, it’s common sense.

The problem with a BG level set in stone in the guidance is that it would make it an absolute offence to drive while below that level, as in the drink driving laws. Above a fixed level of alcohol, you are guilty of an offence. I’m sure you wouldn’t like that to be introduced for diabetes, along with roadside BG tests.

I have to agree, the DVLA are useless. Speaking from experience with them, I had my licence revoked 9 months ago due to a decision I disagree with. It was revoked due to failing a medical because I didn't have a diary with me to explain the low results within my test meter the majority of which were whilst i was in bed.
I asked the DVLA for a second opinion and was told no, eight months later they agree to it. Absolute disgrace of an organisation if you ask me.
