A BALLINA man who was a diabetic for 14 years has told how Dr Eva Orsmond cured it and transformed his life in three months.

Pat Mulcahy, a 70 year-old former auctioneer in Ballina/Killaloe, was diagnosed with type two diabetes 14 years ago. It develops when the insulin-producing cells in the body are unable to produce enough insulin, or when the insulin that is produced does not work properly.

“I’m six foot tall, I always hovered around 16/17 stone. About 14 years ago I became very thirsty - I wanted something to drink all day long and found myself going to the toilet a lot.

“When I went to the doctor he diagnosed me as being diabetic. Straight away I was put on medication which I happily took for 14 years until a specialist clinic I attend told me the medication was now not working properly so I would have to go on insulin injections.

“I balked at that idea because they told me I would put on more weight,” said Pat, who at this stage was tipping the scales at 19 stone.

He read an article about Dr Eva Orsmond and decided to visit her Oranmore clinic at the beginning of the year. Now he is three stone lighter and diabetes free.

OK, so he stopped eating carbs and lost weight. I'd like to know just how far below 10 his levels are - if they are ever above 6 then he's not 'cured' 🙄

What rubbish! And it does annoy me when people say insulin "makes you put on weight". Eating too much for your activity levels is what makes you put on weight!

I'm sorry? It is a well known side effect. If you eat the same and then start taking insulin you will put on weight, even if you maintain the same activity level.
You have to change your food intake and/or activity level to avoid weight gain.

Pleased for the Bloke ! If only I could get away with that 😉

I have put on half a stone since stArting on insulin 6 weeks ago. My diet has not changed significantly and I have been doing more a so feel loads better. Not sure whether it is the insulin, or rAther the lack of the very high blood sugars and ketones which were making me loose weight/find it very hard to keep on? Am happy with the half stone gain but don't really want it to continue!

I had a choice between insulin and giflozins a month or so ago.

I put off the insulin to give the giflozin a chance.

My blood sugars are not under control with the sugar excreting gliflozins, at least yet, but I have lost 3 kilo in 6 weeks.

I might keep trying with the giflozins...
