Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
I was wondering if there is anyone out there who has tried CBD oil for arthritis or anything else for that matter that might help? I am a type 2 diabetic and as you all know we can't try everything, but I desperately need something to help me cope with arthritis in my lower back. I started with paracetamol which isn't much use and the doctor prescribed co-dydramol which is a bit stronger but can be addictive so I'm scared to take too many of them! I work in a school as a teaching assistant, I have a role for September thankfully but worry that the arthritis will prevent me from doing my job properly. I would appreciate any advice!!

Hi @annettemcd, I've been wondering the same thing. I've been taking glucosamine for my dodgy knees for some years, changed recently to a thing for older people (I'm an old bat of 70 now) which didn't work much, so have gone back to glucosamine.

A colleague where I volunteer swears by CBD oil for his arthritis, but I don't know what strength he takes. I looked up the various ones on Healthspan, but there were several types. If anyone out there can advise, I'm sure we both would be grateful 🙂

I have a CBD spray which is 12mg per spray as I thought I'd give it a try. I think it has some benefit but nothing miraculous. If I can do more exercise, the joints seem to improve. It is an old injury, a knock to my knee which affected several more joints from compensating and if it is bad I get more relief from using Nordic walking poles than anything else - as they make me more stable and confident I go further and am more relaxed too, which help a lot.

Hi thanks for replying, I absolutely agree it was a friend who recommended the CBD oil but she isn't diabetic so wasn't aware that it may not be suitable! Let's hope we get lots of responses on here and information

with me it's arthritis in my lower back painkillers don't help much and I need to be mobile working with SEN children. Thanks so much for replying!

I use 10% CBD oil, drops under the tongue. I use it for muscle spasm, and it works in seconds. It works directly on cannabinoid receptors in the brain and muscles, so as back pain is neuromuscular I see no reason for not giving it a go. The lower strengths aren't quite sufficient. It's the lower strength that you see in pharmacies.

Always get your CBD oil from a reputable supplier online. I use Healthspan, but others are available. Expect to pay around £50 for a bottle, but that will last you a month or more.

There are no side effects, and it has no effect on Diabetes or other medication that I take.

Best of luck🙂

Let us know how you get on if you try it @annettemcd

Might be worth discussing your plans with your GP and/or a qualified pharmacist who will know details of your medical history that we can‘t know?

I'm interested in this too. I recently became an Amazon Vine Voice which means they send you products free for an unbiased review and I got sent two 10ml vials of CBD oil - one unflavoured and one peppermint flavoured.

The blurb says it helps with anxiety and depression as well as pain.
It also said it was helpful with some symptoms of diabetes and it can reduce appetite.

I am a nervous nellie though and I am trying to build up the courage to try it.
A friend gave me a bottle of Bach's Remedies once and I never even took one drop because I was too nervous and didn't know enough about it - it was before the internet so I couldn't research it.

My husband has chronic arthritis type pain and before he finally went onto morphine he tried a Tens machine and at one stage that was quite helpful. He's not diabetic though and I don't know if Tens machines are for some reason not suitable for diabetics.
