Hi everyone,

I’m nearly 12 weeks now and so far all has been well. This morning my son has woken up sick, tummy ache and vomiting.

I’m trying to be prepared as I reckon it is likely I’ll catch this.

How would I manage this and would it pose a risk to baby? The risk of heightened ketones obviously would…any tips? I will of course contact my team if I started being sick

Assume it’s Norovirus and bleach what you can @Evergreen eg door handles, toilet, etc. If you have more than one toilet, have one for your son’s use only. Use antibacterial spray on surfaces you can’t bleach and wash hands frequently. You might avoid it with luck. My son had this a few weeks ago and luckily I didn’t get it.

Speak to your midwife if you do get it, but remember many, many women get bugs during pregnancy and all is fine xx

Thank you. I’ve been washing my hands like crazy and spoke to my midwife this morning who told me to go to hospital if ketones rise above 0.6. Even though I’d hate going into hospital, especially with a bug. It feels reassuring to have a plan.

And you are obviously right, I need to remember many women get sick and are fine. Thank you ☺️

Clean the bedding, fabric things too (towels, blankets etc). People forget this stuff. And teddies 😱

Another risk is if you go low and can’t keep anything in (this happened to me when pregnant) and get your glucose back up.

Make sure you have plenty of sugary liquids in, and glucose gel / tabs.

Stay hydrated.

Baby was completely fine during all of it, they are more protected then we realise in their. I had a horrible time but she was fine the whole pregnancy.

Thank you! That’s very reassuring!

I’ve got some lemonade and full sugar coke in. Also plenty of glucotabs and dioralyte. My little boy has made a miraculous recovery and is eating like he’s not had food for a week‍ haha

I’m keeping everything crossed that this one might pass me by, but I’m getting as prepared as I can! Might even pack a hospital bag…

I had to go in with blue lights in my polar bear pjs, and I couldn’t pack as I kept throwing up.

Complete mess. Better be prepared.
