Flu jabs?

I just had a text from my surgery asking me to book in a flu jab. I have always had it every year since my diagnosis, but this yar I'm wondering whether to bother. Given that I am scrupulously avoiding people who might give me covid, I'm also avoiding anyone who might give me flu in the same process. Basically, going to the surgery for the jab will probably be the riskiest thing I've done since March 😱

Thoughts, anyone? 🙂

Ask for first appointment? I’d definitely get it done, but then flu was what trashed me in the first place so I’m kind of biased.

I got one in May, even though flu has declined to almost nothing here (way less than 10% of historic avergae) at the peak of the season. But given that there isn't any corona in the community here either it wasn't much of a risk decision.

Dont bother with surgery Northie pharmacy will do it, in out in 5mins usually, might have to pre book.

I’m intending to have one. You may be intending to avoid other people, but suppose you needed to go to hospital for tests if you developed something else, or tripped over your doorstep and broke your ankle. At least you wouldn't pick up Covid AND Flu while you were there! I’ve been working on the basis of getting things like new glasses done while the rates in the community are low, so I don't have to risk it if there is a second wave.

I'm booked in for mine at a pharmacy. Presumably we won't get so much flu this winter but even so, better for as many people as possible to get the vaccine to reduce it to the minimum.

Not the Flu vaccine but I am going to the surgery on Thursady for bloods and Diabetic physical checks, I have to find at a side entrance to be let in.
Every time I have been to my Pharmacy over the last few months, it has always had the max number allowed in at once which is 3 , and I even had to wait just after they opened after lunch yesterday for somone to leave before I could go in. I think I would rather have an appointment at the surgery.
In my area there is a surgery not opened as a general surgery, it is for covid hot clinic.

Better to have it than not. I have just checked at my kocal Boots if they are doing them this year . They are.

Will get it done at pharmacy, much closer than surgery who apparently are going to set up in the village hall car park!

I will ask the nurse when I see her Thursday, what my surgery are doing if she knows.
Just remembered I had my Flu vaccine in the village hall where one of the surgeries are, but one if the surgeries were closed as it was having building work done.

I think I shall still have mine.
Having been to the Practice to drop off things I have been impressed with how they are managing things, so I am confident that they will sort this out too.

I always have mine at Boots, 1-to-1 with the Pharmacist. It's like production line at the surgery, all in a line. You have the jab, move away and the nurse says 'next..!' Mask or not, no thanks.
That’s how it is at my practice, we have to queue up in a narrow corridor, though it may be different this year, I will try to find out .

I’ll be getting the jab, even tho I hate those big needles LOL! 😳 🙂

Me and Mum will be having it as usual. 🙂

I normally get mine done at the chemist.
I do need to arrange bloods for my next diabetes appointment so cannot avoid the surgery anyway.

I would always advise getting it done, as you cannot guarantee as others have said that you will be able to completely be able to stay away from everywhere. I know you've done really well so far. I would just rather be extra sure I had less chance of getting it.

Since it is still impossible to see a GP face to face at my surgery its going to be interesting to see how they handle the flu jabs. I needed a blood test prior to a regular CT scan last week and the surgery said i had to go to the local hospital..............

Must be different by area, I’m having my bloods done at the doctors for my telephone appointment with the hospital.
Not looking forward to having the bloods done at all. Doesn’t feel like a place I want to visit.
Receptionist said to knock on the door when I arrive and to be on time.

I am going to have bloods and Diabetic bits done with the nurse to today. I have to go and ring at a side entrance.

That’s interesting @PhoebeC I’ve got my telephone appt soon and the hospital said not to worry too much about bloods as lots of people were having problems getting them done or weren’t keen. Now I’m wondering whether to bother trying at my surgery. I’d rather avoid any risk, I think.

Were you told you had to have them done?
