Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hi all, wonder if anyone could offer any tips or advice please? Diagnosed Type 2 Aug 2019 with Hba1c at 83, in March 2020, when last tested, it was at 49. Lost 2 stones in weight but since Christmas I have lost nothing, blood pressure has always been fine, everything else seems to be ok, cholesterol fine etc etc. Weight since December 2019 has fluctuated between 12 and 12 1/2 stones despite watching what I eat and exercising daily, 15 - 30 mins on Cross Trainer daily and 50 minutes brisk walk on most days of the week. I got to just below 12 stones once but this morning am nearer 12 1/2 stones again. Has anyone else experienced this? What more can I do? I live on salads, chicken, fish. I am desperate not to go onto medication but desperate to get down to 11 - 11 1/2 stones. Am late 50's and female. Help please!

If you are eating low carb and your blood glucose is low then you should not need medication.
Weight has very little to do with control of diabetes, it is more the other way around, achieving good numbers is likely to result in weightloss.

Welcome to the forum @DaisyDaisy .
You'll find lots of help from fellow t2,ers on here, also i found a lot of help by having a nosy round at previous threads and always ask about anything your unsure about or need an answer to.

It sounds like you are doing brilliantly, and have already made some great changes to your diet and activity levels.

And huge congratulations too on your weight loss. 2 stones loss is not to be sniffed at!

Sorry that your weight loss has slowed and stalled before you had reached your target weight.

Are you monitoring your own BG levels with a meter? Just wondering how your body is responding to the meals you are eating. If self funding a BG meter (if your surgery doesn‘t support monitors for T2s on D&E) it can help to choose one like a SD Gluco Navii or Spirit Tee2 which have test strips at around £8 for 50.

Keeping a food and snack diary (brutally honest!) is also a common tactic for members trying to spot any areas where extra calories are creeping in.

You might want to join the friendly gang on the weight loss board too for tips, encouragement and moral support - https://forum.diabetes.org.uk/boards/forums/the-weight-loss-group.22/

Hello there, not monitoring BG levels myself and I do keep a diary of food consumed and exercise taken which I have found useful. Weight is, thankfully, not increasing so will be working to keep it at the new level which is still a good 1 1/2 stones less than I was this time last year. Thank you for your support on this thread.

Congratulations on your weight loss!
