Hi everyone, I’m new to this forum and wanted to say hi

Welcome to the forum CB1.

Hi CB1, welcome to the forum.
Hi Bluesboy and welcome too.
I think admin may move this so you have your own hi thread.

Welcome to the forum @CB1!

Glad you have found the forum. Diabetes can be a frustrating and isolating condition to live with, and it can be very helpful to share the journey with others who instinctively ‘get it’ 🙂

Welcome to the forum @CB1
I am glad that you have found us and look forward to hearing more from you.

Hello @CB1, your username may have absolutely nothing to do with Cambridge, but that’s the postcode in Cambridge I used to live at!
What’s your diabetes story?

Hello Libby,
Thank you for your message. My name isn’t related to my postcode, I am in the North West.
I was diagnosed Type 1 at 18, so this year will be my 30 year anniversary. Not sure anniversary is the right word, but, embrace it and all that!
I started on actrapid and ultratard (syringes) bit very quickly moved to the pen (long and short acting). Years later I moved to the pump, I’ve been on the Omnipod for about 9 years I think. I really resisted at first (mainly because the ones I had tried, as a dummy run had tubes and felt really impractical). I also have the libre which I think is great. I exercise as much as I can and it’s great to be able to swipe and run, for example. My hba1c is the best it’s ever been (for a long time) at 7.8 (or so the Libre says!). That was quite cathartic writing that, Thankyou for asking! What’s yours?

I wow lovely, I too am from the North West (the Lakes)! Thank you for sharing! Wowee 30 years nice one, yeh i find it quite difficult to embrace it a lot of the time, that’s why I’m on here because I really needed to connect with fellow diabetics to remind me I’m not alone! I’ve only had it for 5, i was diagnosed at 15 and I found it super easy at first. I went into Omnipod very quickly but I have been struggling for a couple years with remembering I actually have diabetes which I know is quite strange but I easily go through a day where Ive forgotten to test! Anyway I’m coming to the end of the 4 year trial thingy and im sure they’re going to take the omnipod away from me which I’m pretty gutted about but it’s my own fault really. So back on injections for me I guess which will take a lot of getting used to! My last hba1c was 9.2% which is better than it has been in the past couple years but I don’t know about you by lockdown has made me pretty lazy with it all!
