I'm due my eye check up on the 15th April at the ophthalmology department, I have a feeling it will be cancelled though :( xx
I would think is possible though as you have existing problems the might not cancel.
I have never had screening at a Opthamology Department, I have had the in a variety of locations even a room in the Health Authority Office block. This one as my last couple were, are in a GP surgery in a Town about 10 miles away.

Hi Tombrum. Your feelings are so similar to mine I could have written that except my healthy partner is losing patience with me a bit. I called Anxiety UK yesterday and they recommend channelling your negative energy into something you enjoy... something that lets you switch off your mind. Also try exercise, meditation. All common sense things really. No one can make this right just let. But one day it will all be in the past and life will get back to normal. Take care Tombrum

I've never had an annual screening with being diagnosed with my first set of eye issues less than a month after a routine optician appointment led to being referred to ophthalmology so I have no idea where they are held at all, I'm due the dentist on the 20th of this month but I've been stuffy for well over a week now, happens a lot and think it's due to the damp in my bedroom etc but I'll need to phone closer to the time if I'm still the same and see whether they want me or not, you wouldn't be able to tell with Bruce as he coughs and sneezes permanently 🙄 xx

I think the risk is to diabetics who do not have their blood glucose levels under control (for those who only have diabetes as one of the high risk health issues)

For me a lower carb intake, exercise and metformin did the trick.

So long as another health issue doesn't flare and trigger high blood glucose levels that is.

I heard the deputy Medical Officer say when someone who normally had coughs and snuffles, say if there cough or snuffles became differnt.

I had a horrid dry cough every night after I'd been taking one of the ~pril drugs for BP. Nearly drove me and OH potty, and they reckon it's a dry cough with the Covid. Aaarrgghh!

Hence should it strike - invest in something to ease the inevitable dry mouth/sore throat when placing your online order for food and/or medication!

Rowntree's fruit pastilles were £ a bag in Tesco yesterday so I bought a bag. They aren't sugar free but you need to eat at least 3 if not 4 for 10g carb and multiples of that as a hypo treatment BUT it did cross my mind they could temporarily help either/both of us in a Covid emergency.

Has anyone with diabetes self isolated due to the concern of catching the virus as our immune systems are lower than the norm?

Life has to go on, unless symptoms appear been in contact with someone with virus dont see need to self isolate.

The latest data for the UK says that of 590 cases, 18 have recovered, 10 have unfortunately died and the 562 remaining cases are mild. Zero serious or critical at the present time (worldometer website).
The latest number of diagnosed is now 798 . Also yesterday at the Cobra press meeting the gov said that they estimate that the current (actual number) of Covid19 infections was between 5,000 and 10,000. And that eventually they expect up to 80% of the population to experience infection over the next years.
Without at least moderate social distancing the (actual) infection numbers (note that they have given up testing outside of HCPs and hospital patients) is expected to almost double every day!

So zero serious - are you kidding me, or are you just seriously misinformed?

Actually I am self isolating now as best I can. I went shopping Thursday and it was a bun fight so I won't be doing that again. I wish I could hibernate until it's all over. I have to add that I suffer from general anxiety though.

For clarity that was a reasonable estimate of a ‘worst case’ scenario, rather than what was likely or expected.

I had that cough, known as an ACE cough. I persevered but I couldn't go anywhere like theatre or anywhere quiet as I couldn't suppress it. One evening watching Joe Pasquale I coughed so much, but couldn't get out my hemmed in seat, he actually commented on it on stage. I was mortified

Changed medication. Problem solved.

Well yes that's what I did too. Just bloody annoying at the time since I didn't even have high BP so it was only supposed to be a kidney protective medication, which it was 'fashionable' to do for diabetics at that time.

I read a lot of science fiction and 'what if' novels in my youth and I think that I have always been slightly disappointed that my life has been really quite mundane.
I do recall the ancient oriental curse - may you live in interesting times - but it would be quite interesting to find out if I can use my rather arcane skills to good effect, and just how bad it might get.
It makes Brexit quite boring.

I'm repeating what it says on the worldometer website. Their words not mine.
OK, so you claim to be seriously misinformed.
- Do you feel this is a desirable state?

Brexit? Has Coronavirus given Boris a Get Out of Jail card for extending the transition period beyond the end of the year? Can't see people travelling to negotiate a trade deal at the moment.

Martin
I read he has said they will not. I heard it reported at lunch time yesterday that the EU side are trying to avoid face to face meetings.

I look after my 81 year old mother who is bedbound in a hospital bed at home,She has 8 carers entering the home every day to give personal care,I cook for mum and feed her and run the house.
I'm very worried I have no idea what's going to happen if Mother or I become ill and what's going to happen if the carers become ill,mum already has bad lungs from problems associated with eating and drinking with dementia,as food and drink can enter the lungs, she has just had antibiotics a couple of weeks ago.She is unable to clear anything with a cough.
