Carb and calorie counter book , even shows pictures so you can get an idea of portion size
Good luck

Two books I found useful are Can I Eat That? by Jenefer Roberts and Type 2 Diabetes The First Year by Gretchen Becker.

There's plenty to read on this site and on the www.diabetes.co.uk site. I have also found lots of good stuff on the www.healthline.com site.

Hi and welcome, going low carb will definitely impact your weight loss, you can boost this with doing something simple like walking, I struggled at the start due to a preexisting heart problem so exercise had been off the radar for a long time. I knew I would never stick with (or survive) going to the gym, changes are for life so need to be sustainable for you. At first I struggled to get to the end of the road and back, but taking my time and building up slowly was key, I borrowed my neighbors dog so I didn’t feel such a numpty walking on my own, also when the dog stopped to sniff or pee, I could catch my breath. Within a few months I was walking a good half hour, that increased to an hour.....but what I hadn’t anticipated was the added value, my mood improved, my breathing improved, my weight was dropping and I felt happier! Within six months my bloods were back in normal range and I had dropped 4 stone 😱 Biggest surprise was (and still is) my angina went from needing my gtn spray daily to haven’t touched it in about 9 months now :D

Morning CathyB . Big thank you for yr reply and time . Not feeling so “ cut off “ now . Messages are tremendous help . Great tips and encouragement . Shall def start the ( feeble ) walking again . So used to love it . Paddy1313
